Courses

In the morning you will attend academic modularised courses on current topics of your chosen track. Upon successful completion of these courses which encompass 50 contact hours you will receive a total of 8 ECTS credit points (4 ECTS points for module 1, 4 ECTS points for module 2). Each module concludes with one exam.

All courses are conducteded in English. We do not require any language certificate as a proof of your English proficiency, but please note that you will need to have sufficient English language skills to follow the academic courses.

Please note that the Gender Studies and Social Sciences track are independent from each other. You can register for one or two tracks.

Please be aware that you can only book the optional German course for a duration of four weeks, i.e. if you register for both tracks.

German courses

You can participate in optional German language courses on different levels (30 contact hours and 3 ECTS credit points upon completion). Beginners and advanced learners (A1 to B1) can become acquainted with the German language or improve their skills in small groups to guarantee optimal learning conditions and fast progress. Please note that there will be an online test prior to the Summer School in order to make sure that you take part in a course suitable for your level.

Credits

According to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) participants get the opportunity of gaining credit points for the subject courses as well as for the German language courses. Students who are not enrolled at one of Goethe University’s Strategic Partner Universities need to inquire their home university if the credit points gained at Frankfurt Summer School will be recognised towards their degree programme at their home institution. Please note that gaining credit points for the academic and German language courses requires participation on a regular basis (minimum attendance rate: 80% of the total course hours).

At the end of the Summer School you will receive a Certificate specifying the ECTS points you have gained during Frankfurt Summer School.
